Learn How To Pray... Luke 11:1

Truth About Prayer:

Prayer is not like a vending machine. It is not something where we will put our few coins of prayers and get the product we need, when we need it.

Prayer is not like a TOOL, in which we have to pick and fix something that was broken. Rather prayer is first and foremost about the Kingdom of God then our related needs. Jesus taught His disciples how to pray (Luke 11: 1-4, Matt. 6: 9-13)

"Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth...."

As followers of Christ we should start praying the right way. (Prayer should not be about "me, my job, my church, my kids, all about me.") We are to pray for The Kingdom of God to come, and God's will to be done here on earth like in Heaven!

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come,

Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven...." Matt. 6:9-10

For the Kingdom of God is all about peace, righteousness (love, mercy and compassion), and joy. But how can there be peace and joy if some people are marginalized or excluded because of their culture or race? (These are hard questions, but we believe the 21st century church must be proactive to continue making a difference. We pray that churches would address our "social issues" head-on to advance the Kingdom of God in this world.)

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Rom. 14:17

In John 17, Jesus prays for the unity of the Christian believers...

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe (today's Christians) in me through their message, that all of them may be one...." John 17:20-21a

We are to pray for UNITY in the body of Christ. We pray for God to eliminate the presence of divisions, prejudice, bias, or discriminations, not only in the public arena or work places, but even in places of worship. So that God hears our prayers, forgives our sins, and HEALS our land just like what He told the Isralites during the time of King Solomon.

So as believers in Christ, we are to repent and start praying the right way...

The LORD spoke (2 Chro. 7:14) after King Solomon prayed for the dedication the Temple:

"[I]f my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
